But this time I decided to read the directions and follow them even. D-Link DWA-130 Wireless N USB Adapter, has worked flawlessly with my Vista, and it is 64 bit. It has been since Christmas time and I have been very happy with it. I had no problem setting it up and it has been flawless.BUT You need to read the directions and follow them to the letter, no short cuts. Luckly I did it by the numbers, I am someone that does take shortcuts and end up havcing to do thing over and over. I have set up my wifes laptop also, and we are both surfing away on our own computers at the same time and there has been no problems at all.I do not understadn why there are so many 1 ratings. If this is a one I would be very happy to try one of the higher rated ones, I can not even begin to think how well they must work.
Setup on a desktop running windows XP, connected to my router (D-link brand) and ready to go in less than five minutes.
I had good luck with this for about a year and a half - then it started dropping the signal every 30 seconds and needing to be reset. I went to the store and learned that these things die after a while, so I spent over $70 for a Linksys product that the salesperson recommended. Up and running again with no problems.
I've had this product for several weeks now and so far so good. No complaints what so ever and has worked as advertized. I'm using this product to connect by office desktop to my wireless router upstairs.
I ordered one through a local business who didn't know about the different revisions, got an A, and they can't return it or order a specific revision. What they don't tell you is that they only make drivers for 64-bit Vista for the Revision B and C versions of the adapter, and apparently there is no way (at least that I've been able to find) to order a specific revision. Plus D-Link's policy is to not do exchanges if you have the wrong revision; they only do exchanges if an item is broken - I called D-Link to try and find out and had to explain the problem THREE times before they told me I couldn't trade it. Another store I called told me they couldn't order a specific revision, either. So if you have Vista, I'd only recommend purchasing if you have the 32-bit. I'm now looking for an adapter I can use with a Motorola SB5101 and a D-Link DIR-615 that I can find 64-bit Vista drivers for without having to worry about getting the right revision of the adapter.
